Business Background (21 years)

As the Founding Partner of NewSkilz Corporate Training, Paul spends most of his time in South Africa, China and the United Kingdom. He is a seasoned Business Development executive having successfully developed clients in 14 countries worldwide, namely: China, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, India, Israel, South Africa, Poland, Romania, Spain, Germany, Ireland, England and the USA. This has developed his Sales Skills and Cross-Cultural awareness and makes his Leadership and Influence Soft Skills training more effective since he has learnt to adapt to different audiences. This global client base, and need to work so much in virtual teams, has improved his People Management Skills and he is very experienced with managing remote staff and dealing with business stakeholders in various geographies from Asia Pacific to Europe to America. Before settling in China, he specialized in IT Consulting within Oracle software development and spent 7 years in roles covering pre-sales, project management, account management and IT Training. In terms of tertiary education, he has a Commercial Law Degree and a Postgraduate IT Degree from Rhodes University in South Africa which is also is birth country. Both parents from Scotland make him a British citizen. With an innovative and creative attitude towards Learning and Development, Paul has broad knowledge around organization training needs analysis, international program management for multi-country training programs.

Training Experience (14 years)

In terms of training workshop facilitation skills, he has a very dynamic and engaging personality that definitely encourages people to think ‘out of the box’. As an intuitive communicator, his natural people reading skills play an important part in his Leadership Influence and Soft Skills Seminars, he shares a lot of fascinating personal insights into human behavior and effectively engages groups by asking better questions that create focus and stimulate participation . Also, he uses the latest research based Management and inter-personal Psychology to develop quality content with practical skills development implications for the workplace. His training is designed with good content and a strong focus on using a variety of facilitation techniques, with different types of activities and dialogue models, to motivate staff to both participate fully and contribute their own experiences to add value to the training. Besides training, he also helps key clients with running tailored management development workshops and teambuilding events he acts an external facilitator and guides groups towards goal setting, brainstorming and creativity , internal conflict resolution,issues prioritization and problem solving. As a Soft Skills Coach, he uses a combination of inspiring storytelling using metaphors, coaching techniques and training methods to challenge the coachee, push their boundaries of awareness and make paradigm shifts in specific areas of desired development identified.
